Popular Israel Tourist Attractions map
As was explained in the article the “Best Tours to Israel,” there are many popular tourist attractions in Israel that are part of the Abrahamic religions’ heritages (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Baha’i are all Abrahamic religions because they all trace their religion’s origins back to Abraham).
While the tours to Israel 2013 concentrated on the Islamic and Jewish Israel tourist attractions map, this article is going to concentrate on the Israel attractions of Christianity and the Baha’i faith. Remember that if you join Holy Land Christian tours (or other religions’ tours), you not only get to see the main tourist attractions in Israel, but also normally get tickets to Israel for cheap.
The Church of the Holy Sepulcher
One of the top tourist attractions in Israel to go when on Christian tours of the Holy Land is to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which was built in 330 AD/BCE. It was built and resides inside the Old City of Jerusalem. This church was built over the 5 last Stations of the Cross, which includes Jesus’s crucifixion, death, entombment (the sepulcher), and resurrection. Therefore, it is the holiest place in Christianity (other than Vatican City).Israel Tourist Attractions pictures. You can also take day tour Israel to see Jerusalem area.
Mount of Olives
Another favorite of the most popular tourist attractions in Israel, the Mount of Olives are mountains that overlook the Old City of Jerusalem. They are very popular attractions in Israel because it is said to be the place where several important things happened to Jesus. Jesus wept at the prophecy he saw of Jerusalem laid in ruins; the disciples of Jesus Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus all prayed in the garden only hours before his crucifixion, and Jesus was arrested there; and the Last Supper apparently took place in or near the Mount Zion Church in the upper room; lastly, the ridge of the Mount of Olives is apparently where Jesus ascended to heaven. (With regards to Judaism, the Mount of Olives is one of the popular tourist attractions in Israel Jews go to because it has a huge Jewish graveyard that dates back to ancient times).
The Baha’i Gardens
The Baha’i Gardens in Akko holds the tomb of the founder/prophet of the Baha’i faith, Baha’ Allah. It is, therefore, one of the most important attractions in Israel for members of the Baha’i faith.
Baha’i Shrine and Gardens
One of the last really popular tourist attractions in Israel is the Baha’i Shrine and Gardens in Haifa, attracting over half a million visitors a year. This is an Israel attractions must see because of the grandeur and beauty of the gardens. There are nineteen terraces that go along the huge staircase that goes down the slope of Mount Carmel, making it one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Israel. The shrine holds the remains of a Baha’i martyr, Bab Mirza Ali Muhammad, who was executed in 1850 by Persian authorities. Since the gardens are definitely a part of the Israel tourist attractions map, there are closed off areas of the gardens because they are holy places to pray for followers of the Baha’i faith only who are doing a pilgrimage to Israel and working in the Baha’i temples for free.
